How the result works

What this face age test actually measures

FaceRating.me separates the visible measurements from the interpretation, so you can see what produced the result instead of receiving a mystery score.

What you get

A broad photo-age range intended for comparison, not an exact age prediction.

Experimental photo comparison

What this face age test can—and cannot—estimate

A face age test asks how old someone appears in one image. This page returns a broad experimental photo-age band, but it does not claim to know chronological age, biological age, identity, or health.

The current method is geometry-based. It reuses the overall landmark-balance score from the local analyzer and maps that score to one of three wide display ranges. It is not an age-trained neural network and does not inspect records or clinical skin signals.

That limitation is important for honest use. The result is best treated as a playful comparison between controlled retakes, where the camera, light, expression, crop, makeup, facial hair, and image processing remain similar.

Method disclosed

How the experimental face age range is assigned

The browser first calculates the same 0–100 overall geometry score used by the local face analyzer. A simple display rule then chooses one broad range.

Source score above 84

24–31 display band

This is a product display rule based on geometry alignment, not proof that the person belongs to this age group.

Source score from 73 to 84

28–36 display band

The ranges overlap on purpose because one photo cannot support a precise age claim.

Source score 72 or below

31–41 display band

A lower geometry score can reflect pose or camera conditions and should not be interpreted as aging.

No skin-age model

texture is not clinically analyzed

The test does not assess wrinkles, sun damage, elasticity, hydration, or biological aging.

No identity inference

age is not verified

The output must never be used to confirm legal age or decide whether someone may access a service.

Best use

same-person photo retakes

Keep conditions stable and treat changed bands as photo effects unless stronger evidence says otherwise.

How to take a face age test photo

  1. 01Use one front-facing face with the camera at eye level and a neutral expression.
  2. 02Choose soft, even light and avoid overhead shadows, beauty filters, sharpening, or portrait retouching.
  3. 03Keep the same camera, focal length, distance, crop, makeup, facial hair, and background for comparisons.
  4. 04Treat the range as entertainment. Never use it as evidence of chronological or biological age.

Hard safety boundary

Photo age is not real age

A selfie cannot establish date of birth, biological aging, health, maturity, or eligibility. This tool is unsuitable for identity verification, age gates, hiring, insurance, medical assessment, or any consequential decision.

If you want a broader but still photo-based breakdown, the complete report separates shape, symmetry, ratio, eye, and jaw readings instead of presenting an age claim as the main result.

Face Age Test FAQ

Know what the result can — and cannot — tell you

What is a face age test?

A face age test estimates how old a person may appear in one photo. This experimental version uses a broad geometry-based band rather than claiming to know chronological or biological age.

How does this face age test work?

The browser maps facial landmarks and assigns one of three broad appearance-age bands from the same overall geometry score used by the local analyzer. It does not inspect identity records, skin biology, medical history, or an age-trained neural network.

How old do I look in this photo?

The result answers only with a broad experimental range for the current image. Lighting, expression, makeup, facial hair, image processing, camera quality, and pose can all move that range.

Is face age the same as biological age?

No. A photograph cannot determine biological age, health, longevity, or the age on an identity document. Do not use this result for medical, legal, employment, access-control, or identity decisions.

Why does the estimated age change between selfies?

Hard overhead light can emphasize shadows, while soft frontal light can reduce them. Lens distance, smiling, filters, makeup, facial hair, sleep, and image sharpening also change how age cues appear in a photo.

Can I use the test for a before-and-after comparison?

You can compare controlled photos for entertainment, but keep the camera, light, expression, crop, and image processing the same. A changed band may reflect the photo setup rather than a real change in appearance.

Is this an exact AI age detector?

No. It is deliberately labeled an experimental geometry-based comparison. The wide range and method note are shown to prevent the output from being mistaken for a precise age prediction.

Is my face age photo private?

The free measurement runs in your browser, so the selected photo is not uploaded for the scan.
