What is the golden ratio in a face?

The golden ratio is the number phi, written as φ and approximately equal to 1.618. A golden ratio face calculator compares selected facial distances with that mathematical reference. This page uses one transparent measurement: visible face height divided by visible face width.

That narrow definition matters. Some golden ratio face tests combine many distances around the eyes, nose, mouth, and facial thirds, while others use a mask or a subjective beauty score. Those methods can produce different answers for the same photo. FaceRating.me shows the measured ratio and the reference instead of hiding them behind a single claim.

How to measure a golden ratio face from a photo

  2. 02Keep the camera near eye level and step back before zooming or cropping. A close wide-angle selfie can distort face width.
  3. 03Use even light, a neutral expression, and no beauty filter. Avoid hair or a hand covering the face outline.

Interpret carefully

Does 1.618 define a perfect face?

No. The golden ratio is useful as a clear geometry reference, but human faces are three-dimensional, expressive, and naturally asymmetric. A single two-dimensional ratio cannot define beauty.
