How the result works

What this jawline rating actually measures

FaceRating.me separates the visible measurements from the interpretation, so you can see what produced the result instead of receiving a mystery score.

jaw width divided by visible face width

left-right facial symmetry

combined jaw-width and symmetry score

What you get

A jawline score with the exact width ratio and symmetry value used to produce it.

Lower-face measurement

What this jawline rating actually scores

The jawline rating uses geometry that a front-facing photo can support: visible jaw width relative to face width, plus left-right facial symmetry. It does not claim to recover a three-dimensional bone angle from a flat image.

Jaw width is measured between two lower-face landmarks and divided by the cheek-to-cheek face span. The result is compared with the tool’s internal width reference, then averaged with the symmetry score to produce a 0–100 jawline result.

Keeping the raw width ratio visible matters. The same final score can come from different combinations of width and symmetry, and lighting or facial hair can change how defined the outline appears without changing bone structure.

Formula shown

How the jawline score is calculated

The algorithm uses one width proportion and the existing symmetry score. It avoids a fake gonial-angle number because the current scan uses a front-facing image.

Jaw-width ratio

jaw-corner span ÷ face width

Both distances come from the same normalized landmark map, so image pixel dimensions cancel out.

Width reference

closeness to 0.72

The ratio is converted to a 0–100 closeness score around this tool’s internal display reference. It is not a clinical norm.

Symmetry input

eight paired landmarks

The existing left-right score adds information about how evenly the visible lower face sits around the facial axis.

Final jawline rating

(width score + symmetry) ÷ 2

Both components have equal weight. The page shows the jaw ratio and symmetry beside the final number.

What is excluded

no side-view gonial angle

Projection, mandibular depth, neck contour, and true skeletal angle cannot be recovered reliably from this front photo.

What can change

pose, light, hair, lens

A stable camera setup is essential if you want to compare the result over time.

Controlled retakes

How to take a jawline test photo

  1. 01Use a front-facing image with both jaw corners and the full chin visible.
  2. 02Keep the camera at eye level, the chin neutral, and the mouth relaxed rather than clenched.
  3. 03Use even frontal light; move hair, hands, collars, and deep beard shadows away from the outline.
  4. 04Retake from the same distance and compare the raw jaw-width ratio before interpreting score changes.

Health and appearance boundary

A photo cannot explain why a jawline looks different

Bone, soft tissue, body composition, posture, expression, facial hair, light, and lens perspective can overlap in one photograph. This calculator cannot separate those causes.

The page does not prescribe mewing, exercises, weight change, devices, fillers, or surgery. Pain, bite problems, or functional concerns belong with a qualified clinician, not an online appearance score.

Jawline Rating FAQ

Know what the result can — and cannot — tell you

How is the jawline rating calculated?

The jawline rating combines two values from the current photo: jaw width divided by visible face width, and the existing left-right symmetry score. The width ratio is compared with this tool’s internal reference and averaged with symmetry.

What does the jaw-to-face width ratio mean?

It describes how wide the detected jaw-corner span appears relative to the cheek-to-cheek face span. A larger or smaller value is a geometric difference, not a diagnosis and not automatically better or worse.

Does this jawline test measure gonial angle?

No. A true skeletal gonial angle requires reliable side-view or clinical geometry. This front-photo tool reports width and symmetry only, so it does not invent a degree value that the image cannot support.

Why does my jawline score change between photos?

A close lens, raised or lowered chin, facial hair, neck shadow, expression, and uneven lighting can change the visible lower-face outline. Use an eye-level camera, neutral mouth, even light, and the same distance for comparisons.

Is a wider jawline always more attractive?

No. Jaw width interacts with the forehead, cheekbones, chin, expression, and personal preference. The score only reports closeness to this model’s width reference plus symmetry; it does not define a universally ideal jaw.

Can this test tell whether my jaw is bone or body fat?

No. A front-facing image cannot reliably separate bone, soft tissue, posture, lighting, and lens effects. The tool is not a body-fat estimate and must not be used for health or treatment decisions.

Can jaw exercises or mewing change the rating?

This page does not evaluate or recommend exercises, mewing, devices, fillers, or surgery. If you have pain, bite problems, or functional concerns, ask an appropriately qualified dental or medical professional.

Is my jawline photo private?

The free measurement runs in your browser, so the selected photo is not uploaded for the scan.
